Boy, on first glance that front almost looks like the back of the Venice quarters.

I mead Doug Ashton a few times when I was in Australia and one would never guess that he is 90.

I remember Doug on the Ringling show. Not sure which unit or how long. He was a good clown.
The gentleman in the photo is not the Dougie Ashton that was on the Ringling show.
There was a discussion of this on circuspace awhile back; I will do some research and post the results.
While both in the circus and both Ashtons they are not the same Dougie.
Dougie Ashton is still clowning on the Gold Coast in Australians Surfers Paradise on the week ends in a Shopping Mall. I think he is 80 now and received some kind of Gold Entertainment Award from the Surfers Paradise Tourism Department.
As far as I know is he related to Doug Ashton. A distant Cousin or something like this.

Yeah just noticed fuel prices here have dropped by about 20cents.
Ok well infact there are 3 Doug Ashtons, Doug Ashton OAM is my grandfather here in Australia he is about to turn 90.Then there is Doug Ashton the clown from Ringling fame he also lives in Queensland,his nephew Doug Ashton is from the Risley 7 Ashtons Hoody and Danas son, here is a link to our family tree

also my cousin Jimmy Buchal has a page here and has some great old photos of the original 7 Ashtons and knows a little more then me!!We are currently not performing but doing hire jobs with the tents and then a few xmas corperate shows,we will start again in January for the summer holidays.
