Mabel Stark spoke in highly respectful tones of Ricardo, as if almost in awe of "Captain Dutch".

Out here, in Thousand Oaks, in those days, I was in on the last years of long careers of these old-timers, and remain grateful to have listened in on their countless treasured memories. Belying her reputation for jealously guarding Old Circus lore, Mabel was generous with her recollections and her ready praise for her illustrious contemporaries.
