Dave,
Please correct me if I am wrong but seeing a large Cole Bros poster on the famous Cole and how Famous cole got Cole Bros poster.
Now Cole went broke and they had a large supply of poster left over.
Floyd King bought cheap for his new King Bros Circus.
Now King Bros folded and they owed Francis Kitzman money so they gave him the bill car and the contents as a settlement.
So it must ahve been Kitzmen that sold the Famous Cole the posters to use.
I have a 1 sheet up on the Cole Bros. Hubert Castle poster and it is pasted over as the Bros. has Famous to read Cole Famous Circus.
The one I like the best is a Christy Bros. rhino and hippo poster and they left the Chrsity name on it and a King Bros date sheet next to it.
What they will do in show business.

Harry:

You're right- Kitzman ended up with much of Floyd King's Cole Bros paper and sold it to Glen Jarmes.

We crosslined as best we could but like you say it usually came out Cole Famous instead of Famous Cole.

If that red pickup weren't in the way, you'd see that is a "King Bros Circus" title streamer along the bottom and at the far left maybe you can make out a King Bros 2-sheet showing the riding Cristianis.

I believe Famous Cole to be the very last circus to use 8-sheet dates.

Dave,
Is it true that you also put up some daubs of Cole Bros. eight-sheets that showed trains unloading? If that is what the towners expected, it wasn't exactly what they when they Famous Cole's trucks rolled into town, eh?...

The crosslining of show paper is always entertaining. I remember hearing about the Cole Bros. paper on Famous Cole but never knew how it all came about until Ole Whitey told the story of Francis Kitzman billing the show in early 1959.

And yes, Harry, what they'll do in show business!

I have a poster with the title of Wixson Bros. Wild West Show. The back says opened and closed in one day. The poster is from 101 Wild West and the date for Wixsom poster was 1937.
