Scan10469, originally uploaded by bucklesw1. Well known elephant trainer Tim Buckley leads the herd who like Pearl Souder and George Denman had started out on elephants with Sells Bros. Circus in the previous century and went on to bigger and better things. An oddity since the Sells Show didn't have an elephant act. These elephants were so well trained that when the Robinson's sold their circus in 1911, the elephants were retained and featured in Vaudeville as the John Robinson Military Elephants. Buckley later joined the fledgling Al G. Barnes Circus and trained such elephants as "Ruth", "Jewel", "Babe" and "Jennie" well remembered in the big RBBB herds. TIM BUCKLEY 1878-82 Sells Bros.
