From Buckles

Scan10385, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Busy week end, taking the grandkids to see the Panda movie this afternoon and tonight Shannon has tickets for the Rays base ball game.
Tomorrow is a double birthday party for both Kay, who was 3 last week and James William who enters the Terrible Twos on July 7.
Following that, Ben and I are off to the Club in Sarasota for a belated 4th of July dinner and as always, followed by adult beverages and wise council.
Happy 4th of July to all.

This is Barnum & Bailey's "Our Country" float at Racine, Wisconsin, August 6, 1904. It served for just a couple years, 1903-1904, as a patriotic salute to the nation and was then sold to the Miller Bros. & Arlington 101 Ranch Wild West, where it carried American bison for a few more seasons. It went missing by the early 1910s. The vehicle builder was the Sebastian Wagon Company, with ornaments from the carvers hired by Samuel Robb.

John Polacsek makes a fine-looking T. R. and should ride it in 2009.
