George Emerson #4

"Sally" and "Queen" two elephants leased from Louis Goebel and worked by Emerson (lady unknown).
They had been purchased from the Ringling Show in the mid 1930's and had been with the Corporation prior to that but unfortunately both died in a fire at Goebel's place in 1,000 Oaks, 7/10/40.

the unknown lady is probably George's wife, Bernice Brown Emerson. Originally from my home town, Menomonie, WI. She and her sister, Erna, performed in many shows. Erna was a trainer of Skippy, who played Cheetah, the Chimp in the 1932 film, Tarzan, the Ape Man.
