Elephants in three rings!

Talking to Richard Fick the other day, I couldn't remember the names of Ringling's elephants in '77 when Axel was in charge. I rode Luetze (sp?) and Elmo/Dean rode Targa in Ring One in Manege. Do you happen to know the names of the other elephants, especially in Ring One?

"I don't know the working order, Darryl Atkinson would, but the 17 elephants in 1977, in order of their seniority with the show were:

1. Icky.....2. Siam.....3. India.....4. Calcutta.....5. Jewel

6. Lucy.....7. Betty.....8. Ranee.....9. Susan....10. Jennie

11. Targa.....12. Kernaudi.....13. Roma.....14. Putsie.....15. John

16. Cora.....17. Karen

Who needs those fancy sky boxes 30 rows up when you can have a front row seat/ticket at AFFORDABLE prices.
The old days before premium VIP seating were terrific.
Imagine those elephants hauling ass down the track right in front of you -- there's no better thrill anywhere.

Is it true that one of the Gautier boys is building trailers? I'm not sure I got the whole story.

This was the first circus I ever saw and after 30 years I STILL remember the show like it was yesterday...the color, the spectacle, the clowns (of course). And what an A-list cast: Charly Baumann, Elvin Bale, Jeannette Williams, Axel Gautier, The Gaonas, Michu and some of the best clowns to ever come out of Clown College. I wonder if today's kids will remember current shows as vividly as I remember this one?

Those were the days, you knew you were at The Greatest Show On Earth when you were seating in the front row at Anaheim and the elephants came charging down and did the long mount five feet from you.

Ring One elephants in 77 are Icky,Lutzi,Targa,India,and Susan presented by Ziggy Solis. Center ring was Siam,Rhani,Jewel,JennyKernaudi,John and Karen presented by Axel and ring three Calcutta, Betty, Roma, Putsi, and Cora presented by Sonny Ridley.
