I note in every photo of this great group of riders that they are all on Resinback [bareback] horses. Not one pad in the whole bunch. As a young man I recall all the great acts at the time road "bareback" generally, and right before the act one of the main riders would have the "resin bag" tappingt it on the horses backs. They hardly ever let the grooms do that. Too much made a sore back. Wonder how they calle3d i8t the "pad room" when most road Bareback. Now we see almost all bareback bacts, if you can find them, use pads. I he3ard K M has riding act this year, but hear little about it. Who is it?
Johnny,
In a past poste you mention that you were a principal rider. Did you do a bareback act at one time?
Wade Burck
Johnny,
Loyal's Comedy Riding is on KM.
on king Bros in 54 I filled in as the principal rider for the Riding Conleys when their rider blew. I had elementary training previously, but I was a lousy rider. When you ride the "finish horse" you are supposed to pretend that you are falling off. I did not have to pretend.
Rex Williams joined the Lucio Cristiani act for a time in the mid 60's. Probably filling in for someone that missed a jump.
Bob Kitto
Bob Kitto,
Herta Cuneo also worked with Christiani in the riding act.
Johnny, in the poste I am referencing, you said it was on the Lippizan show where you were a principal rider. I didn't realize they had a riding act? What breed of horse did they use?
Thanks,
Wade Burck
