"SPANGLES" Just received an e-mail from Vickie Cristiani..She ID #1 Barbara Fairchild, #3 Eloise Berchtold, #4 ? not sure but could be Pauline Penny.
SPECIAL NOTE: Barnes & Nobles, Sarasota is ordering "Spangles, Elephants, Violets and Me" in preparation for Vickies scheduled book signing on March 22nd. We are requesting that everyone telephone or visit there local Barnes & Nobles book store and ask for SPANGLES...This was done with the current Elephant book by Sara Guren that helped it catch fire and become a best seller... SPANGLES is abook about real elephants and real show people. Current issue of Jan/Feb. White Tops features SPANGLES book review and Spring issue of Spectacle will have SPANGLES review.
Ringling Museum Gift Shop Circus Day signing was a success..Jim Cole took a picture of Corky Cristiani, Carin Cristiani and Vickie Cristiani signing books in the front lobby. Pete and Norma Cristiani were signing SPANGLES copies at the CHARLIE SMITH luncheon - Sarasota Marina and Hotel...Vickie donated a copy of SPANGLES to the Wednesday Evening SHOWFOLKS TENT BANQUET..
Buckles,
Wow!!! That's an awesome line up of Empresses.

Two names that pop up all the time but could use a little BIO SPECIAL are Tom Packs and Big Bob Stevens. Anyone care to contribute? I hear about them, but know nothing about them.
Thanks.
What became of Barbara Fairchild? There were some nice shots of her working acts in the Durant book.
"SPANGLES" Feb.,8 2008 - Just posted on circusfans.org Vickie Cristiani Rossi, author interview with pictures by Ed Limbach. Learn more about Cristiani Circus from this gret interview..
Rarely do I leave the tranquilty of the country to visit Big "D". Today I had to go to Garland to do some Rocky Mountain horses and the lady gave me a copy of "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen! I also stopped at a Barnes and Nobles and asked for a copy of Ms. Cristiani's book and there isn't a one in Day at their stores! I guess I will need to order one online? Does anyone have a web site or know how I can get on in my hands? Thanks ahead of time!
Buckles: Great photo of Norma Cristiani's elephants. Ironically, Norma couldn't accompany Pete and her five elephants to Alaska. She was expecting her second child, Eva, and stayed behind at her mother's home in Quincy, Illinois. I had an oppty to visit with Norma twice last week and recorded some four hours of video conversation for a Bandwagon series on Norma and her parents--Ben and Eva Davenport. Norma's dad did make the trip, along with his pit show featuring snakes. Alaskans were fascinated by the creatures, a few of which fell victim to the climate.
