It is John Lovitz, one of the comedians from Saturday Night Live. He did some funny skits on the show. He still is active in the comedy world.
Certainly!
Capt, how and where is Tom these days? Last time I saw him was years ago with you at the Dr. Pepper Circus in Dallas?
Joey Ratliff reported recently that he died in '02 at Williston.
"..... a rock star? .... yeah.....that's the ticket."

I'm totally shocked; had Tom been ill? He was such a young fellow.

He would have been in his late 50's about the same age as "Anna May" when she died.
Buckles is Tom Helfer alias /Tom Tardy/ that was with gary jacobson and gang dead ?i always thought he was in polk city with chico . in fact last time i was there to see Shawn and company he was there and well . wow i hope i am mistaken please clue me in .CleanRaul
sorry i just realise we are talking about Tom the elephant . duh . last time i saw Tom was when i went to see Harry locker . sorry for the misunderstanding .clean Raul PS mistakes like that come with age specially out here in nebraska .
I think Tom remains in an upright position, at the Ringling Stud Farm but of course, that information would be classified.
I'm going bonkers. first let me state for my own sake that I am well aware that Tommy aka King Tusk has long since joined the bull line in the sky. I'm sorry I never heard this elephant referred to as "Tom".
I was referring to Tom Haffner whom we had not seen for sometime and whom we would like to see again. I hope that TOM HAFFNER is happy and certainly healthy.
I really am trying to cut down on my senior moments.

This Tom and Tom act was getting pretty funny. Tommy the elephant died at Williston in '02, age 58.
Paul my friend,
Are you serious, you had never heard Tusk called "Tom"? That's about the lamest patch I've ever hoid. Nyuk Nyuk
Best to you and Diane,
Wade Burck
I guess I started this mess, I meant Tom Haffner?
I just found this wonderful site today. I had always know King Tusk as Tommy. I remember seeing & meeting him, Minnie, Mysore, Calcutta & Dollie back in the 60's. I was only a few years old then but my dad was a Shriner as well as a St. Louis policeman so until I turned 18 in the 70's, I had never missed a day of the Moolah Shrine Circus, Police Circus or the Fireman's Rodeo in St. Louis ever. Because my dad was well know by just about everyone as "the friendly cop" I got to meet some amazing people & animals in the early years of my life. When I first me Tommy, he was billed as the only fully grown, fully tusked male performing elephant in the world. Unfortunately almost every photo that I ever owned has been destroyed so I am loving all of these. The one that I really regret my ex destroying was when I was about 10 & was given a ride on Tommy at the circus when it was still at the old Public Schools Stadium in St. Louis. I even had one of their business cards with his photo too before his tusk was broken. I'm sorry this was so long, I'm just really excited to have found this site and I wanted to thank you for offering these photos to the public.
