You notice this stand of paper is posted on a billboard, as opposed to a wall or barn, so it was probably the work of a local company rather than the bill crew. Probably Foster & Kleiser.

The "eles" at the top of the date must be the last part of "Los Angeles," which the Big Show played September 4-12, 1948. I pick that particular date because of the "Under Canvas" slips that have been added to inform the public, some of whom assumed once the big top burned the show was no longer a tent show; this was their first time to go to the Coast after the Hartford fire.

Also see the large "W" at the bottom of the date. This means that the local billers came along and slapped a "NOW" over the date once the show arrived in town.

By the way we called Foster & Kleiser "F and K" and it was said that "Where you see F you see K."

Buckles:
I remember on the CBCB we had two baseball teams one of them was the Blue Room Bombers. I played in the outfield.
The band would play the anthem and between innings also filling in with apprpiate cue music to fit the action. Charlie Berttini was my assistant and handled the band.
Someone somewhere should have pictures of this operation.
Kindest regards,
Chuck Schlarbaum

Yes we ndid play softball on CBCB and did one day stands during the time. Johnny Pugh managed the "BLUE ROOM BOMBERS", Bill Webster jr. managed t5he "BUTCHERS" and I manage3de thye "KINKERS". It was Challenge the WINNER and we did have band members play. Everybody would rush to get the show set up so we could "PLAY BALL". It was great.

On the Gil Gray show in the early "60's the butchers cajoled us kinkers into putting a team together, so we did. It consisted of mostly young guys like Carl, & Jackie Wong, Billy Woods, Slick Valentine, & myself to name a few, Dwight Moore(ex semi pro player), was our catcher & mgr. I remember the last two games we played, we beat them 18 to 8, & 28 to 8 and they didn't want to play any more.

On the Gil Gray show I was the starting pitcher for the "kinkers" against the "butchers" and in the first inning they had 16 runs. Larry Carden and the "polack" among others hit a home run every time they came to bat. Lum Wong was the umpire.
