As you know, Massachusetts Senate Bill 2002 went before the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Cultural Development for a hearing last October. The Committee has now scheduled a vote on the bill for next Wednesday, February 13. SB 2002 would prohibit the use of an ankus or chains on elephants. And by banning the use of legitimate elephant training tools, MA SB 2002 would prevent circuses with elephants from visiting the state of Massachusetts. Committee members heard from numerous Circus Fans and supporters leading up to the hearing, including many who testified in opposition to the bill at the hearing. We are now asking Massachusetts circus and animal industry supporters to contact only the five key Committee members listed below before the vote on Wednesday. Even if you made contact with these legislators last fall, please take a moment to call or e-mail and respectfully ask them to vote NO on SB 2002. This effort is appropriate for Massachusetts residents only, or for those who have circus or animal interests in the state.
