This photo was taken by Chappie Fox, and is of the Emanual Zacchini cannon. This cannon was later re designed to look like a rocket, and is now on display at the Circus World Museum in Baraboo, WI

There's no doubt in my mind this was the first circus I saw as a young boy in Tampa. The few things I vividly remember was that the show was in a tent, it featured bareback riders (including a "bum" who came out of the seats and did things like mounting the horse backwards and putting on his coat and hat while turning a somersault on the ground), and the show ending with a man being shot from this cannon. As a kid I enjoyed watching the after-show where children were invited to try bareback riding while wearing a safety harness. I was too timid to try.

i think 1956 or 1957 may have been the last year of the big cristiani family riding act - in 1958, corky did a principal act while the brothers were running the enlarged show
