John Robinson Circus 1923-24 #1

With World War II concluded there was a large unflux of baby elephants received by American circuses in 1922. RBBB imported six and nine more the following year.
The Corporation bought in at least eleven. Four went to Sells-Floto, two to John Robinson and five to the Gollmar Show.
When Cheerful Gardner came to the Corp. in 1923 he took over the John Robinson elephants replacing Chris Zeitz (who remained in Quarters) the Gollmar Show was taken off the road and Cheerful received four of their newly acquired punks "Pearl", "Jewel", "Judy" and "Modoc" (the later of Ralph Helfer fame).
On the back of this picture my dad wrote "Babe Gardner and "Judy" indicating that this would probably be the same elephant seen in Mr. Garcia's pictures above.
