Bill Woodcock #1 (From Buckles)

Scan000010404, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

A more complete shot of the Terrell Jacobs Wild Animal Circus with Conklins All Canadian Shows at the "Fair for Britain" at Toronto, Ontario in 1942.
Bill Woodcock with "Modoc" and The Lion King at the microphone making a bally. The clown is George Churchill and Jean Coriell on the trapeze.

I might add that this was Fred Logan's first job with a circus and he once told me that during the rest of his career, he never lifted anything heavier than that bally platform or the solid iron entrance.

Buckles,
What years was your father with Terrell Jacobs?

Basically my dad was a side show ticket seller while on Wallace Bros. but helped on elephants when needed.
As I understood it, when we left the show in 1942 he went to work for Clyde Beatty. I well remember those sensational indoor dates, in fact I have a picture of my dad and Jean Evans (Harriet Beatty's sister) working "Mary", "Sidney" and "Anna May".
For reasons unknown, by mid 1942 we had gone to Terrell Jacobs where we remained until joining the Cole Show in late 1944.
My dad always spoke highly of both men and said they were a credit to the business.
