1920's Ione Carl with John Robinson Circus, Barbeau Photo Oswego, NY (From Javier Garcia)

Mr.Woodcock,

These photographs are from the John C. “Chubby” Guilfoyle Collection, courtesy of Leah Malasko. Thanks to Dave Price who identified Charles Sparks and historians at Buckles Blog for making it possible to identify Mabel Gardner.

Could your friends at Buckles Blog add more knowledge to the details of these photographs? Were any of these three elephants famous?

I assume Mabel was married to Cheerful Gardner. Was she also called “Babe” or was that one of her elephants? Can anyone say if these photographs were taken with the Sparks, Al G. Barnes or John Robinson Circus?

Any additional details on Cheerful and Mabel or where to look for more info besides the internet would be greatly appreciated.

I hope your readers enjoy the two sides of Mabel -- the “conservative” and “sexy” look.

"Mabel and Babe were indeed the same person and I would say that all of your pictures came from the John Robinson Circus owned at the time by the American Circus Corporation".

Javier: Don't worry about this bunch not picking up on anything the least bit sexy.

Didn't you hear all the deep breathing when he showed the Brigitta Bocolli picture?

Doesn't this have something to do with the opposite sax, or six or something like that?
