A wonderful and kind man Albert Rix was. Does anybody notice the influence of "Hagenbeck" on Albert's life. What a great time the 70's and 80's were. Wade Burck

From time to time, on the blog, I read references about how wonderful Albert Rix was. He sounds terrific. I wish those who knew him would contribute some wonderful stories about him.
I would love to learn more about him. -- ToddP

"THE OABA BEARS ARE HERE"
I agree with Wade Burck comments regarding Albert Rix. Albert Rix, Johnny Weldes Grandfather are two people that made an impression on my life and one of the reasons I'm constantly working on the various animal problems in the United States.

Had the pleasure of spending time with Mr. Rix and it was time well spent

When Albert Rix died someone wrote that he presented the bears with a "smile of confidence". A fine man, with a fine family. I was always honored when he would visit my show at the Zoo. A great role model for animal men to follow.
