Miller-Woodcock Elephants #3

Scan000010134, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

This is how the act was progressing after about two months in the barn and shows my mother with "Fanny", "Anna May" and "Lydia".
I was in High School in Hot Springs during all this and had no interest in elephants at all.
Hard to imagine that today I am twenty years older than my folks were at the time of these pictures.

Not a circus comment but one regarding the business you mention about your age.

It shocks me to know that I am older than Franklin Roosevelt was at the time of his death.

I thought he was ancient at the time.

Nice photo of our favorite elephant, Anna May.

Buckles, you were kind enouth to allow my wife a special breakfast visit with Anna May at Lincoln Center around 15 years ago. My wife was turning 30 and had loved elephants her whole life, but never had the opportunity to get close to one. I dont know how I tracked you down. Maybe through the old Game Farm. Regardless, you were great, and Anna May was the best. We still have the photos framed. I was sad to learn of her death. What a nice animal. Wat did she die of, and do you think she was happy to be retired? I'd like to think so, though she passed only a few short months after her arrival.
