What a real character Boom Boom was.
Met him in his later years through Bubba Voss who was another character.
Heard many stories through both of them and they both were real troopers until the end.
Boom boom could really tear those drums up and he was a show in himself.
That beautiful old show tunes and not modern day junk.

Come on Harry, when I played with Boom Boom in 1964, we played a Stan Kenton tune. Boom Boom, by the end of the last show had only his snare drum, a crash symbol and the base drum left to pack. He drove the cage truck and Bubba rode shotgun.

Boom and I hit it off like two fellows Texans only can. He was born in Taylor and I was born in Tyler.

I have a hilarious story of Boom's visit to a bordello that I regret I can't repeat here.
