Asia was built in 1902 for Barnum & Bailey Circus. It was one of four telescoping tableau wagons - namely America, Africa, Asia and Europe. The carvings which were on top of the wagons were lowered into the body for transporting. Many years the carvings were removed from the wagons and the sides of the bodies were built up. The added space was used to carry loads of equipment. The Circus World Museum acquired the wagon from a department store in Peoria, IL which was owned by Carson Pirie Scott & Co. who presented the wagon to Circus World Museum in 1961.
1. The original department store was Block and Kuhl and they paraded these wagons for a number of years before being bought out by Carson etc. 2. How can I get 15 cent a qt. motor oil? If anyone knows please let me know.
