You will notice that there is a large door built into one of the arena sections. This was for the elephant to be brought in for Harriet's lion and tiger to ride.
The lion died about 1940 and was not replaced but the tiger on elephant act was continued even after Harriet's death in 1950.
Beatty stated out as usual with Cole in 1938, but upon the show's early closing, he wound up the season with the sister unit, Robbins Bros. Part of his settlement with Adkins and Terrell was the cat act, of course,and three elephants. The point being, if you'll look at photos taken over the last half of his career, you'll see some of these same props still in use. A few of them came to Jungleland, and I used two of them when breaking in on Dick McGraw's lion act.
