Having spent from 1976 thru the end of the 1981 season of Big John's show, I can tell you that he had 2 elephants, both named Neena (not Nena). If I remember the story that Big John told me the name Neena was chosen as a "
name the elephant" contest for school kids. This photo you have is of the first one; the second one is the one that is part of the KM herd. I worked her (2nd Neena) one winter on Betty Wendany's little sidewall school show, and took care of her for a couple of winters.
