Never underestimate what a fresh coat of paint and a few repairs can do for equipment. I'm pleased to report there were vast improvements made on the cat truck the following year, 1982.

Good grief.

OH, I see there was a cat act in 1981. Did you have two steel arenas that year? One for the act and one for the girafe?
PS I worked the cat act in 1977.

I took the cats in '81, Dion. Did you know John Marrone? I think he had them the year before, 1980. There was an "arena" of sorts for the giraffe. The one used in the show was separate, for the cat act and the lion/elephant riding act. Did you work that riding act too?

Pat I never met John Marrone. I was a one year 'wonder' working the act. I moved on to Jungle Larrys' from there and CWM in Baraboo after that.
Would love to write you. circusdays@yahoo.com

John Marrone worked the Cat act and POA Liberty act on Franzen Bros Circus in '78..He blew to go to Carson & Barnes...I don't Believe Wayne was too upset..as he missed working his cats and POA ponies...On a side note Waynes CB handle was "Blue Bull" cause the '59 International tractor that pulled the animal trailer he drove was Blue...However He always joked it shoulda been "Standing Bull" cause he liked to stand around and shoot the Bull...(He was one of the Hardest working persons I ever met)...
