Ringling Pole Wagon 1939 (From Buckles)


I think you can get an idea from this picture what happened, by the time the axles reached the fulcrum at the top of the runs the two rear axels were suspended enough to throw the bulk of the weight on the first.

When blowing up this photo,you can see the pair of stake pullers above the rear wheels, but at the other end is a couple of sets of wagon gears. Was wondering if anyone would know about these?

In the 20s & 30s Ringling carried a gilly wagon that came apart for tranporting to save room on the train, this may be the undercarriage for that.

They had a small one horse gilly that would pick up stakes at teardown,and move hay and supplies around during the day. I have a Bob Good photo of it,but the one loaded here is 10 times bigger. Had to wonder how they got it up there in the days before cranes and forklifts.
