Why do you think there were so many camels? Leftover from the army attempts to use them or just the unigue factor??cc

I swear that first comment came before I saw this story BUT - yesterday in Wewahitchka FL a woman was killed by her camel during a film/interview- she rescues animals and had bought this camel 3 weeks ago at an auction. It kicked her, then sat onher. Buckles has this story shown up on the local news yet??cc

No, this is news to me but not surprising. Bull camels come into periods of "musth" like elephants and can be very dangerous.
In answer to the first question, camels were more plentiful, less expensive and easier to maintain.

I saw the camel story on the national news last night. What a shame. Intentions were good, experience with camels was not there. You have to keep reminding yourself, "There's a reason the animal is being auctioned off in the first place."

A little heartbroken, I didn't realize "Uncle Grumpy" was already being used. I was considering it as my new screenname.

Howard Johnson ( Gary's dad) was pretty handy with camels and handled a lot of them, but was killed loading a tough female.

Was she "RESCUING" the camel or just wanted one. Why was an animal rescuer buying a camel at auction ?
