In the early 60s fire hoops were pretty typical in dolphin shows. The first time I visited Sea World in 1970 the sea lion show featured a high dive into a flaming pool.
There were a few travelling dolphin shows in the 1960s. Tanks weren't very big and as Gary suggests,the water quality probably wasn't too good (at least by the 2nd day). Dolphins were a novelty in themselves. If they jumped out of the water, retrieve an object, and ate some fish it was a show.

Don't think I've ever seen a dolphin doing the fire hoop. I would hate to have to transport this act down the road.
I agree! I bet it was hard to keep the water PH or salt level correct?
