We had that week off prior to the parade and on the first morning Paul I. picked Gunther and myself up in his elaborately painted Cutty Sark Caddy at the train and Gunther saw the parade grounds, wagons, train, etc. it just blew his mind. I was pleased to be back as I had been directly involved in the parade the previous year and now I lucked out to be back again.; 01 February, 2007 09:44

Anonymous said...: Nice memory by John. Gunther who had just started with RBBB got in car with John and I and elephants followedd. I didn't know any German and could think of nothing smart to say so I said. "Gunther you are a great star." He said ,"Ja I am."

John was enjoying Gunther's inability to understand why he was riding in one of three new Cadillacs which had Cutty Sark sailing ships painted on them, leading the RBBB elephant head to date.
