It was sad to me to read about Harry's death today on the blog. I met Harry on Gopher Daveports circuses along with Mike Cecere another great friend in show business. I had an open invitation from Harry to come and see the Ringling retirement center. Well you all know me and I set up an appointment with him to see it. What a thrill it was for a circus fan to all those elephants in one place. King tusk aka Tommy was there and to get to see this large animal way up close. We got the V. I.P. tour and I was taking photos all over the place. Harry was a very gracious host as usual to old friends. We even saw all the fantastic food they fed to the elephants and they got the greatest of care. I went out shooting photos and was told to be very careful which I was as I am no Clyde Beatty. One male elephant in a large pen follwed me down the fence line but i stayed in the middle of the road out of harms reach. what a thrill all this was and I still have my Ringling retirement center shirt that Harry gave me. What a great circus friend he was and we had a lot of wonderful times visiting down the circus trail. You will be greatly missed, Mr. Locker Now for Mr. Dave Price. the World's Greatest Poster Expert Thanks a million Dave for the bill stand all the explaining about it and about all it took to get it up and about all those great posters and there history. I sure hope Dave sends in a lot more like this as that is what I call circus history, as if it was not for Mr. Dave all of that history would be lost forever. I also asked Mr. Price what was Georgia ice cream aka Grits. That's what us Southern folks eat and don't ask Jim Swafford out in California to eat any as he cannot stand them. |

Harry:
We go back a long way. Thanks for your kind words but don't tell people I'm an expert. That puts too much burden on me to be right every time.
I'm just a guy who worked on some of the last fairly big billing crews and had the chance to know some old-timers and see the way they did it.
These pictures I've been sending in were taken by Francis Kitzman and sent to me after his death by his daughter.

Buckles,
I worked/was with the Logans in the 70's & early 80's and was sad to hear about
the passing of Fred and Walter. Shocked about Walter. I understand that there was a memorial/tribute for Fred in December. Have you heard anything about it?
Thanks,
"Away from home"
We did indeed have a Memorial Service for Freddy at the Showfolks Club in December and it was a straw house.
