Mismanagement? Oh, I thought you were talking about the Greatest Show on Earth.
Richard Reynolds says - -
The late Mable Ringling was never married to James Edgar. I knew and corresponded with her.
Edgar was from a very wealthy Detroit family. He was married twice. The first in 1934 was to Katherine Crawford, a musical comedy and screen actress. They divorced in 1936 after a tabloid type scandal. Edgar's second marriage was to Ann White from a circus family. That one stuck.
I wrote this whole story in Bandwagon, Nov.-Dec 1994.
Mable was a real looker and a show girl with RBBB in 1947. She was also an eyewitness to the palace coup in Atlanta in October that year, when John North and his sneez mob descended on the lot to take over the big show, ousting the Haleys - -Mable went with them.
The Haleys' private car was detached from the show train and they had to get it moved to Atlanta's Terminal station where it was added to the joint Central of Georgia-Atlantic Coast Line's "Southwind" passenger train for movement to Sarasota.
