Or more specifically, 'lions and lionesses'. ( I do realize only in America is 'lions' used for either. And yet I don't think it's specified "tigers and tigeresses" anywhere in the world. That's a little strange.) Still a great looking act!
It sure is nice on the blog that some recognition be given to deserving people and also nice to be reminded of Jose. He had an act of fine routines and some unique tricks. Great ground and seat sit ups. For those of you that never saw him I can assure you he wasw a damned fine trainer right up with the best and Howard Suesz was sure fortu7nate to have him and his family on his circus. I see him frequently at recent events here in Sarasota and he and his wife look great and are so personable in greeting.
We usually get to know some background on trainers here and from Europe as well, but that Jose came from South America makes some difference. Whether he was self taught, etc. We do know that they had other performing talents as well, so I would assume a circus family background. Maybe soimeone out there that knows the Barradas better could enlighten us, or Jorge himself if he tunes in the blog. I do know that both Buckles and myself lost our fathers way to early in our careers and its obvious the nice bond between father and son.

I only saw this act once, in 1967. I remember it being outstanding.
A great act, and to this day, a very humble, gentleman.
I have never heard any great trainer or performer toot their own horn. They never have to. Their actions speak louder then words. In the ring or out.
A cage full of lions. Fantastic!
