I think having the elephant rides after the show brought into the ring adds something special to the experience. Perfect for rainy bad weather. Stalling tear down for a short time should not be a problem. Especiall since it is such a money make. More people would be inclined to ride.
to bob: to the best of my knowledge, 2 eles, tina & jewel. looks like tina to me; no idea who is working her.
to larry: blow off first, tear down second, make the jump third. in other words, you drive your own self when all else is done. on good lots (like around new york)blow off can last 30 minutes or so. most lots don't have a huge blow off, so it's not that big a deal. but no one ever beat the cat guys off the lot, LOL.
As I remember it. No one left the lot after the last show. We all spent the night on the lot and drove off at about 5 am. One of my little jobs was staying at a gas station and making sure all the trucks were gased up and I recorded that in a book. This was on Kelly Miller and I tried to make myself generally useful when ever they would let me.
oops, you're right casey. i must've had a bit of post traumatic stress there for a moment, LOL. i keep forgetting about the name sale. whoever the cow is, she's an apple head - just like tina.
by the way, what IS up with all that vinyl? i can see it in the ring, but on the ring curb, too? and please, don't call me shirley.
Cindy, I have noticed that almost every circus has those horrid plastic ring matts. CHEAP< CHEAP< CHEAP Why? They look slippery to me for one thing. They clash with the performers beautiful wardrobe and ruin the colors of all the animals natural coloring. The glare is very unappealing. They could at least made the plastic look like sawdust if they just had to have plastic.

OK Bloggers, any idea who is working the elephants on this show and what the names of the elephants are?
