Adam, Jr., dates are 1859-1919 and so this photo probably should be dated in the early 1880s. I have a copy that came to me through Addie's wife. They were married in 1882 and separated after the 1883 season so I assume it dates from that time period or shortly before. Readers may be intrigued by my comments about Addie that I've added to the adjacent post on the Forepaugh show, 1882, with the poster of the elephant act.

While still in his 20's,
Adam Forepaugh,Jr. had been discribed in newspaer articles of the time,as being as bald- headed as two ends of a brass door knob.
This was said to have been caused by him contacracting a fever(possibly scarlett fever,as a boy while in California.
Thats probably why he is wearing a hat in this photo.

My notes list that
Adam Forepaugh jr.
was born around 1863.
but of course the Forepaugh publicity dept. may have down played his actual age to make him appear younger then he really was
(like Hollywood does still do with actors) when he was performing with the elephants around the 1880's.
