Wild Animal Fantasy #2

I'm afraid I can't fill in the time you mention between 1959 and 1961.

I only saw the act one time with Polack Bros at Louisville very early in 1959. They had a very strong show with the George Hanneford Sr family riding act, also George Jr and Victoria and Kay Frances doing their perch act. Struppi was doing Tajana and getting a lot out of it. Mack and Peggy had the elephants of course, Fay Alexander had the flying act. They had a Zacchini Cannon I believe worked by Walter and Ruth Patterson. I believe Emanuel Baragon the Cloud Swing man was there. JC and Patricia Jamison were present and she worked that act. I thought the figure with the mouth was a golden leopard head- also I was thinking that only the black leopard came in through it.

I was with several Hugo shows that year and then in 1960 I was with Beatty-Cole in Canada and in the east and don't know where JC had this act.

The spring of 1961 I was in Hugo to join Jack Moore's Carson & Barnes and Kelly-Miller was going all out that year to promote their 25th anniversary show- lots of publicity and Joe McMahon had come over in some capacity. I had seen him the previous fall on Hagen Bros. Anyway I'm pretty sure that the KM publicity that year featured the Wild Animal Fantasy- I just now thought of that name- that's what JC must have named it. Anyway I went out with Carson Barnes and never saw the act on Kelly-Miller. Sorry I can be of no more help. I do know that D R Miller continued to use the posters on the act long after the act stopped working. I was there in 1965 and we still had them.

I enjoy your comments and will look for more of them.

Madina Temple 1959, Pollack Show:
I recall the rundown as posted the cage act that was there was Prince El KiGardo , however, that could have changed for the season. As we did not continue beyond Chicago. Also I believe in 1960 at Palasades Park, NY date the Hunt Bros. Show this cage act was there, also the Paramount Bears. During this time J.C. began gathering horses and ponies for his Horse Fantasy. He was practicing in the mornings I recall Jospeh (Red) Hartmen was employed part of this run. I got to spend alot of time around Hunt Show Managerie during this period under the direction of Roy Bush.

I remember this act so well, including the music when it entered the arena. It seems they refered to the Fidos as snow wolves. Just for the prosperity, What did the anouncer call this act?

The act WILD ANIOMAL FANTASY had just played in ST LOUIS where JC ask me to replace Patricia Jamison. I don't know if he had mentioned this to her. Last time I saw her was down south. She blew the show.

I remember the act playing Hammond, IN -- then the second date on the Polack route but I can't guarantee it was 1959. I know the act played Medinah the same year because it got a lot of publicity on Chicago TV and the papers. Patricia Jamieson presented the act when I saw it.

this act was from the cuneo wild animal farm, libertyville, illinois (northwest of chicago). patricia jamison was a protege of john cuneo, owner of the farm who has leased various exotic animals to circuses over the years. in the act, there were eight Russian wolfhounds, eight leopards, a black panther and a zebra. i saw the act on Polack Brothers Circus in 1957 in Springfield, Illinois, my hometown. i have a lot of fond memories and programs from the 50's and 60's from the polack show, which has never received much fanfare/publicity in comparison to other shows. it was always a quality circus, with many famous acts, especially in the 50's, including la norma, chester (bobo) barnett, the sherman brothers, charlie cheer, gene randow and harold simmons, lou jacobs, the wallendas, the ward-bell flyers, harold alzana, barbette's aerial numbers, juggler francis brunn, the great rolando, the cycling theron family from france, george j. keller's wild animals, the coronos highwire act, the george hanneford family, fay alexander and his trapeze act, and many, many more.

JC never owned a farm in Libertyville at this time. The dogs were white german shepards. We practiced in a large barn on Hawthorn Mellody Farms that belonged to Mr Cuneo Senior who was not thrilled with JCs chosen profession to say the least.
