Jacob's Coat of Many Colors. This is a wonderful picture. No business like show business. Where else would you see this kind of beauty?

For 35 years I had no idea that Rudi was Noah. Everytime I think I know a lot I am reminded that I really know very little. LOL

These two stories are about Rudi.
The first time I used the title, "Yankee Doodle Circus" I had the pleasure of having Sue and Rudi on the program. Day before opening I see Rudi with the two red and white crosses that the chimps used to spin on when mounted on the sides of the upright frame over the train. He tells me that he needed to touch up the crosses with paint because they got nicked the week before while doing a date for Hanneford. I comment how nice a job he did and he tells me that HE DIDNT EVEN PAINT them yet and shows me two little hairline scratches barely visible to the eye. He proceeds to paint them with the precision of Michelangelo. I tell myself, "That's why they were center ring on RBBB for 12 years."

Fast forward 20 odd years to this past season: we are booked at a major theme park. Our production manager tells me that a young stage hand, fairly new to the business, was questioning why the crew was painting the entire ring curb and hand-washing our vinyl backdrop when they appeared to be in perfectly fine condition. Stage manager tells him, "It's a Mike thing and make sure it's perfect cause he will examine every inch." When the story got back to me I responded, "No, it's not a Mike thing it's a Rudi Lenz thing."

To this day, whenever I see the colors red and white together I think of RUdi and his paint job.
