Makes one sit and cry in their coffee when you think this wonderful entertainment is no longer out there. Especially when we all know it could be again on a smaller scale. It could be beautiful with more talent and skills of someone with a needle and an endless supply of beads/sequins/feathers. We know the talent is out there.

THIS is the circus as I saw it as a kid.

Every kid's dream brought to life, bigger than life! Better than a thousand Christmas mornings! Nothing else like it anywhere. Truly the Greatest Show on Earth!

Nowadays I have to take my son to the theme parks in Orlando for "spec". It isn't a part of the circus (anywhere near this scale) anymore.

Big Apple does an excellent job on their production numbers (and the rest of their show) but one ring doesn't allow for the complete sensory overloads that the Ringling production numbers of the 70s (when Irvin was spending Mattels money) were.

Irvin Feld might have spent a lot of Mattel's money and he also spent a lot of his own. I had my run-ins with Irvin, but at least he had a lot of dedicated circus people working for him. Something that is sorely missing from Ringling today. BEAN COUNTERS, that's all there is in that office today!
