RBBB 1955 "Smokey " #8

#12 the Elephant Trapping Wagon, when unloaded served as Smokey's dressing room and when loaded carried headpieces, the men's crumb boxes, etc. At left you can see the corner of the elephant men's dressing tent, under the center awning Smokey plaiting a whip and at right, an awning for the horse. This wagon remains in Baraboo today. Posted by Picasa

I think this is the first picture I have ever seen of an elephant person setting down!!!! The breakfast club doesn't count.

These men must have posesed a high degree of interpersonal and organizational skills and been able to carry 40 pounds on a regular basis.

High degree of interpersonal and organizational skills? Is that what Smokey meant when he wuold give you those looks? Speaking of old tunes ,I can recall having hummed the theme to "Silence of the Lambs" long before it was written; Buckles,is this the same wagon that you mentioned that had the box on the side that the fido road in?

This is one of the wagons parked under the elephant shed in Baraboo. Within twenty feet of the Infamous Breakfast Club.

Buckles, I recall you mentioned the lot dog having his space on a wagon. Could it have been the canvas boss's rig on the show?

It might have been the canvas boss but to be honest, I'm coming up empty here.

Buckles It could have been Smokey that pointed this out to me; There should be a box on the side of this rig with a screen mesh door, if this is the wagon. He also told me that Baraboo does not have the numbers on the corners of any wagons there, which would have been the different lengths; Getting off a bad show lot they would not arrive to the train yard in the same order and this would help the powers that be to load the flats. He said they would have field glasses and call out the wagon numbers so as not to get a backup in the train yard
