"The Light Of Asia" #2



He was later trained to do a boxing number under the name of "John L. Sullivan" but was thereafter simply called "John". He was with the 4-Paw Show thru 1895, then 4Paw-Sells thru 1907, next Ringling Bros. thru 1918 and finally Ringling-Barnum until his death in Sarasota 1/16/32. Posted by Picasa

Wasn't he the elephant who made the famous trek to Somers, NY, to lay a wreath at the "Old Bet" monument?

The o9ld elephant barn in Baraboo still shows the nails in the roof supports where John is supposed to have been chained. Guess he played with the timbers. No elec tape in those days.
