From Jim Cole

This photo was taken by well known Rhode Island circus historian John Cutler ( 1913 - 1979) on Aug 27, 1962 in Bristol RI. It is of Steve Fanning...or Fannin with Irish Hill on Cristiani Wallace Bros. Circus. While John Cutler was a very well respected circus historian, he was better known for his beliefs in the super natural. John claimed the "pink cloud" above the elephant was a "sign from above" that the elephant had been drinking radioactive water. He tried to sell it to the Pope for a million bucks. My guess was it is a light leak in his Kodak Brownie camera. But who knows, he may have been right! There's a new Pope in office, maybe I should give it a shot! Jimmy Cole
