Those pedestals look like water buckets turned up side down.

I recall a few years ago driving Laura Herriott to a hardware store to buy some wash tubs, with a similar idea in mind. She also bought some pre cut round wood that fit perfectly as pedestal tops.

Today's younger show people should not be afraid to keep some of the older traditional circus ideas alive, while also being creative with an awareness of what our modern circus audiences like to see. A good example of that would be the 2006 Cole Bros. opening act, 2 frisbee-catching dogs. The audience loved it!
