Cole Bros. Circus Train Wreck 1945

This is the train wreck John Herriott referred to, pictured in the foreground are Justino Loyal, Paul Nelson and Cap. Curtis.

From the 1945 Route Book:
"Train wreck July 27th, on the Northern Pacific Railroad enroute to Brainerd Minn. Five flat cars were "piled-up" and damaged, together with sixteen baggage wagons which were completely destroyed.
No one was injured seriously and no animals hurt. A faulty journal on one of the flat cars caused the wreck which necessitated the cancellation of seven stands in order to make repairs at the Northern Pacific shops in Brainerd.
The route was resumed at Duluth, Minn. August 3rd."Posted by Picasa

Boy i wish Duluth got Cole Bros now. We had Ringling in 1945 as well. Now the Shrine Circus makes up the majority of circus in this town.

They're not still playing upstairs over the Curling Rink I hope. Good Grief, that was 50 years ago, man, I'm getting old!
