Very interesting to learn that Rudy worked with horses. I only knew of him with chimps, and he was remarkably proficient with them. Great people and great trainers of which there are fewer and fewer of these days. Wade Burck
A very well dressed group. Spanish horses have always been my favorite. Can't spell the breed names. Porchagee Andulation being my first choice. TURCO the one JC presented on HORSE FANTACY REVIEW was the most beautiful horse I have ever seen. EVER
No Wade, Rudi never worked with horses, only Chimps.
Bertram Mills Circus had many animal acts and employed trainers for them.
John Gindl was in charge of the horse trainers, Phyllis Allan as well as working with horses and ponies had a first class poodle act. I had a Pigeon act.
Joan Kruse had a Bear act as well as working with her husband Gosta with the elephants.
We were all "House trainers" and were all paid fifty-two weeks of the year, (Two weeks holiday as well) Mills also used to book us out with other shows, I went to Gt. Yarmouth one season with the pigeons also Phyllis and the poodle act, she also presented four horses and four sulkies act . ( I drove one of the sulkies) Phyllis was also booked with Circus Schumann one season, I went to Germany Hansa Theater with the pigeons, Rudi went to Circus Krone and Circus Altoff during the winter seasons and the horses and elephants either worked at Olympia London, or with Chipperfield's at Birmingham, or Belle Vue Circus in Manchester. All the animals were owned by Mills.
Enjoying the great pictures Ms Lenz. As I started in the animal business working chimps it was always a pleasure to watch you and Rudi work. Very educational. Thanks for the privilage.
