This comment has NOTHING to do with the photo of Snyder.
Dear RBBB and CBS NEWS,
Call your lawyers and get your money back. You've been screwed by the production consultants who re-designed your decades old formats.
Both of you DRASTICALLY changed course---RBBB you dropped the three rings, CBS you dropped the traditional look of your television broadcast and brought in Katie Couric. Hey, CBS, while you are talking to your lawyers, file papers against Ms. Couric too, she isn't worth the 15 million a year. (That's only 41 grand a day, 7 days a week PLUS benefits.)
RBBB and CBS...you have one thing in common: declining attendance and viewership. So you paniced!! Your middle management is running around the office, sweating bullets and chugging Pepto-Bismol. What are we going to do, what are we going to do? These folks can't sleep, can't eat, they're miserable at home, they are just days away from getting "pink-slipped".
So---these guys and gals have a bright idea---let's change the WHOLE PRODUCT right down to the core. Lets peel away everything and start over. So they peel away everything and are left with a handful of wet apple seeds that isn't worth S***.
Now both RBBB and CBS take this worthless pile of crap to their own advertising folks---who can put the SPIN on anything---and they do.
I've been around longer than I care to admit---but let me share with you a little history lesson:
There was a time when families actually sat around the living room LISTENING to a box called a radio. It was FREE ENTERTAINMENT, just buy the box and plug it in.
During this same timeframe it was a treat to go out to the movies. These grand edifices had plush carpeting, cozy seats and usherettes who wore white gloves and carried a flashlight and actually walked you down the aisle to your seat. But you had to buy a TICKET.
Then along came TELEVISION,it's FREE,too, just buy the box and plug it in. We laughed at THE FAD of a little black and white picture.
Then people wised-up, they can stay home for FREE because the TV programs were getting very good. TV started out floundering, then realized they had to IMPROVE the product, not just change it. They brought in the BIGGEST STARS with the BIGGEST TALENT. Boom, TV took off---the radio and those beautiful movie theaters dwindled.
And another thing: There is TOO MUCH to do for kids these days. The grandkids have so much sports equipment in their garage it looks like they are training for the Olympics. These kids are "too busy."
Did you ever notice now-a-days that when you gather for a cook-out or dinner on the weekend with you extended family that there are always a couple of KIDS MISSING? They're too busy with sports, a game here and game there. You're lucky you can gather your family all together at one time at Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Hundreds of years ago, the Opera was considered mass-entertainment, entertainment for the everyman. Now it is presented for the enjoyment of the upper crust.
RBBB and CBS...you numbers will dwindle...it's evolution. In the future you will have a smaller audience, but a more sophisticated audience for your product. You don't have to CHANGE just to CHANGE, you have to IMPROVE the product.
We now pay TOP DOLLAR for "premium" quality TV and satellite radio. Same with circus of the future, a smaller audience that'll PAY TOP DOLLAR for the product. The attendance numbers will go down but the ticket revenue grosses will go up and we'll all live happily everafter
By the way, unlike your lawyers and high-falutin consultants I WILL NOT BE SENDING YOU A BILL FOR MY ADVISE.
Most Sincerely,
Barney Mc Dermott
Yes he was. I'm surprised you knew that.
