Sarasota Quarters 1956-57 #1

When I went to work for Hugo Schmitt they had 50 elephants in quarters (Big Mododc had just died). The big elephants were in the old rectangular barn behind this one and this was the home for the punks.
I often wondered why todays Ringling Stud Farm doesn't look more like this rarther than the Gothic atmosphere it now presents. It would much more appealing for photo-ops.

George,
Maybe these Grannies are legit, but so far their web page looks just a little bit like a vacation-funding scam. Maybe they only need to improve their image, but I'd rather spend money to feed animals, including ones that still perform. "Ticket buyers unite!"

Buckles,
For the elephant nursery, hmmmm, maybe they could repaint those new streamlined structures with more color -- although with their security needs you can see why they don't want to offer camouflage for hostile hidden cameras or any other kind of fiddling with equipment. Or maybe they're going for an image of medical science next to Godliness. I prefer rugged or fanciful settings, but can see how you could get used to working where the only interesting sights are the elephants themselves.

If cameras had souls, a few of the old ones would have been sighing with contentment at the great scenes they captured.
