In I LOVE YOU, HONEY, BUT THE SEASON'S OVER, Connie Clausen described these bent-around hoops as garlands. If you weren't careful, the damn things slipped out of your grip and snapped anyone or any horse nearby, causing considerable consternation amidst their section of Spec.
In 1986 I was working at an amusement park in Anaheim , CA . My mom ,then 71 years old was walking thru the park while visiting with us there, and would walk by this same little wagon with the golden shoe on it. she would stop and stare at it a moment and then continue with her morning walk . three weeks went by and she turned to me and said " you know , there used to be a wagon that looked like that , that I rode on in spec on the cole show". I then walked her over close to the slightly hidden sign that described the history of the vehicle in question. She started laughing when she read the sign.
