Yes it is, 1980.

The lovely lady is Barbara Barnett, a relative of Donna Gautier. She did a great job with the elephants and it was a pleasure working with her.

Buckles do you know how many if any of Axel's herd from the 80's are still alive? I would think atleast Cora, Karen, karnaudi, maybe Putsi, and Roma. All the rest were in their thirties when I was there in the early 80's.

Karen it was my pleasure and enjoyed the jackpots as well. Thanks for the video, watched it that night and will be watching it often. Thank you for the kind words about the work we do. It really means alot coming from someone who has been around animals. Our staff dedicates their lives to these beautiful animals.

We just never hear from all the wonderful people who work with animals in trouble. I mean REAL people doing REAL work. I had never heard of Darryl before the blog. Lets give these people blog time for the things they do. I toot my own horn about my animals. We need more from those out there that know what they are doing. I know we have to be crazy to devote our lives to animals the way we do. What the hell we are happy and so are the animals and that is what counts. I can not believe I never ran into you Darryl. The amazing thing is we don't lie, steal or cheat the public to do it. Some how The phrase "DO NO HARM" comes to mind.

Thanks for the nice coments Rebecca. The animals we care for, eat before we do and we would starve before we would not feed and care for the animals. People who have never done this can never understand what would motivate anyone to do this. The pleasure I receive from having these animals accept me as one of them is all the payment I ever need.

Thanks for the memory, Darryl- I always wondered if you still had the Animal Sanctuary :-) My mom("Teach" from the blue show) still has a few pics that (I'm guessing here) you sent her in the '80's.
I never got to meet you, Buckles- but always heard good things about you & Barbara from my dad (Jim Gourley) before he passed.
I just found your blog yesterday & will have to investigate more to find even more memories.
Thanks to both of you!! :-)

Wow Dina great to hear from you. Your Dad was one of the greatest people I've had the pleasure to work with. A truely inspiring man and taught me alot about life.

Good to hear from you, as well!! It's great to hear from people who knew my dad- I was too young to really know him as a person other than just "Dad".. I'll have to try & dig up some pics of him & our "circus days" to share :)
