Where in the world have all the bare-back riding acts gone!

We have a comedy bareback/roman riding act on Carson Barnes this season.

Got to carry a half dozen horses, ring curb, ring mat (few indoor producers would provide a floor), a few showgirls, grooms, a ton of hay....And, who's going to pay that kind of money for an act like that when you can get a Russian house cat act for short money. Then, of course how many families are there left? And we get back to the practice thing - you can't use a hand/foot loop for a riding act.

I can remember Lucio Cristiani had turned 50 years old - we were in columbus , Ohio showing for Gracie Macintosh's circus. After seeing my relatives work, watching Lucio do the horse to horse somersault with absolute perfection at 50 years of age was sure neat.Magador was in the act also Rex Williams . I was taught by my father , If you can't say anything good about anybody, don't say anything; So here goes.... I actually saw Mario Zerbini do a full twist back somersault horse to horse and now that I'm heading down this road, My sisters rhesus monkey comes to mind for some reason. My mother often spoke of the greatest riders - Cristianis were # 1 in her book, Repenskies come in # 2. She also spoke highly of Poodles Hanneford and Ernestine Clark.

In regards to comedy bareback/ roman riding act on Carson & Barnes, could this possibly have a genetic conection to the Loyal Repenski troup of yesteryear?
