Big Apple Circus (Date unknown) #1

Barbara put this act together, picked out Vanessa Thomas from the Big Apple cast, choreographed the routine even designed and made the costume which you could never really see due to the lighting. A small price to pay for being truly artistic.
Elephants are "Anna May" and "Peggy" and more pictures from Paul Gutheil.

I recall Barbara expressing her joy regarding Vonessa ( also the Double Dutch Queen )and the Act! I would say Vonessa had " the Pizzaz " required to complement your Elephant Acts that always came across so mighty in the Big Apples Environment .

Buckles,
I've seen a couple pictures of a young man and woman doing an Adagio type routine on your elephants in the Big Apple. Would this be the same young lady? Quite an eloquent and classy gal. It appears that she complimented your act quite well.

That was Marie Pierre and David Dimitri. We tried to a different act each year for 19 seasons.

Do you have and if so, please would you show a picture of Marie and David doing the Adagio act with the elephants? Thanks, Annie

Yup Vannessa Thomas was a hot performer. One bit that stands out was when she was raised in the neck loop, and then decended on to the back of the elephant which entered in the dark, then did this exotic belly dance thing while the elephant circled. One thing with Big Apple is that they always had some really different stuff. Buckles, the elephant acts always had some neat twists. Katja's acts were always different from year to year, and although there were only 8 or so horses, it looked like there were 20, the way they entered and exited.
That was one beautiful show. Now it's dissolved into all kinds of theatrical crap that makes no sense other than to the broadway wanna-bees who put the show together.
By the way, clever as it is, I've about worn out on the bird/cat act that goes beween Hanneford, Big Apple and now Ringling. Where are all the American animal acts?

The bandstand looks like your 1997 pictures.
