"Mike" has obviously picked up every bad habit he could. The martingale is to keep him from attacking people and the hobbles and cross-hobbles from running away and destroying things. I'm sure it was no picnic for his handlers either, always a chance for injury just moving him around and difficult at best loading and unloading him even when he cooperated. Why did management put everyone thru this? Because it was just the type thing the American public wanted and paid to see. 100 years later tastes and situations have changed. Women, now liberated, have become Policemen, Firemen and even Senators. Those with more modest ambitions have become Crusaders (90 per cent of the Animal Rights members are women) and dedicated to solving the world's animal problems. However there is one small price to be paid for these advancements, the American School System must now cope with the liberated child and is forced to employ many of these new Policemen as well as the use of metal detectors to help lower the mortality rate among student body and faculty. Well, you can't have everything.
