Clyde and Harriett Beatty

For some reason I didn't attend last Saturday's ceremony at St. Armand's "Ring of Fame" but I have heard from several parties that the person who spoke on behalf of Charly Baumann couldn't resist the temptation to take a few cheap shots at Clyde Beatty which I resent mightily.
Mr. Beatty was an American Icon and in his day was the personality that represented the circus to the public and he carried that mantle with dignity and class.
His fame was such that his name was included in circus titles forty years after his death.
I would be interested in the credentials and longivity of todays detractors. Nuf Ced.

That goes back to the value of all those ity, words; security, maturity. If you are big enough on your own, you don't need to take someone else down to stand on.

In " this " photo alone; I can see many " important qualities " that would lead me to interpret him to have a proud, admired & highly respected reputation.

Well at least the Deland show did Clyde a favor by removing his name and allowing him to R.I.P, as i,m sure he was rolling in his grave at what the Circus bearing his name had become. Talk about the incredible shrinking show, "let's see" gone are the 9-10 elephants, about the same number of clowns, the cage act,big live band, horses and other assorted animals, and replaced by some Chinese acrobats, and a pudgy guy in a Spiderman outfit, (who obviously had never heard of a jock strap!) But now back to poor ole Clyde, "better hold on tight" as I hear your good name is now in the hands of another Circus Producer!

I received a phone call from Clyde Beatty Jr. a week or so ago on that very subject and that he had indeed signed a contract for one year for the use of his father's name. He was waiting to be flown to N. Carolina for that shows opening date.
The date has come and gone and I never heard back, more than anything I was most surprised that he had heard of my Blog Site.
We all remember Elmo the clown, I hear he will present a dog act with CB next year along with the pony drill the Bale girls worked.

Elmo Gibb is presenting a pony act in makeup???

After last year's show I swore I'd never go back again but I'll be there with bells on if Johnny Pugh is bringing clowns like Elmo back to the show.

I was told it startred out as a dog catching frisbees, developed into a dog act and the ponies came as an afterthought.

I have a hidden statcounter on the website - I noticed a bunch coming from a Yahoo Message Group. Help yourself.

I will be posting some interesting stats about the site. As of last week, over 109,000 hits since June 2005.

IT WAS A SHAME TO HEAR THE THOUGHTS
AGAINST CLYDE AT THE RING OF SHAME.
AND NORBU SHOULD RETIRE.
HIS MOUTH NEEDS A REST.
EACH TRAINER HAS HIS OR HER OWN METHOD AND WITH THE SPEECH GIVEN IT
WAS WAY OUT OF CONTEXT.
WILLY STOREY, MCCLOSKY, KERNAN, AND
COLLINS HAVE FLIPPED IN THEIR GRAVES SINCE THE BEATTY AND THEN COLE FIASCOS HAVE BEEN PRODUCED.

and besides don't know anyone willing to pay$$$ for the use of charly baumanns name!

I thought that was a pretty cheap shot too. She backed it by saying some people thought, not her, but some others. As usual Circus Williams was the source of all of Charleys sucess as it was Gunthers and maybe even John Ringlings.
