Robinson Military Elephants #1

When the John Robinson Circus was sold after the 1911 season, the Robinson family decided to keep these four elephants and booked them at Fairs, Celebrations, Parks and especially Vaudeville.
Though originally trained by Tim Buckley at the turn of the century, we see them here presented by Dan "Curley" Noonan circa 1913. Their names were "Tillie", "Clara", "Tony" and "Pitt" (Petite).

There are several interesting photographs of the Robinson Elephants in Essie O"Briens book,
ELEPHANT TALES published in the early 1940's.
It mentions that the Military elephants were at Tillie's
grave and they shot a cannon or something. It also mentions it was filmed for movie-tone news or one of the film companies.
Would you know if this film still exists?

the circus is the one place where animals come face to face in the circus ring and with many elephants endeing there time in the circus nowadays there is only one elephant left in the uk
this elephant is called anne and tours with the bobby roberts circus
and has been in the harry potter film and the secret garden
anne is under threat of going to a sanctuary for elephants because of animal rights people, born free and helen worth
anne has a small case of arthritas and is no constant pain
as friend of bobby roberts i see anne and the team quite allot
anne is getting better day by day and is on the mend
the bobby roberts circus like i say is the only circus which has a elephant in the uk
the great british circus has tigers, horses, goats and much more yet no elephants

Elephants will make a comeback. As soon as the public finds out those sanctuarys are expecting them to support these wonderful elephants for life. And then never to be able to see them except on film. The public is not that dumb. Already the governments in other countrys are closing the sanctuarys as too costly. Its the animals who are paying the cost with their lives. The circus is the best way for the elephants to be self supporting. They will also be healthier and happier. And the public will see what they are paying for up close and personal.
